Melee Icon

Provides a huge increase to Melee damage as well as small increases to Critical Chance and Resist Penetration. It also unlocks the Charge and Provoke active effects effective battlefield control.

  • Increases your Resist Penetration with Melee weapons. Max of .9% when maxed for your level.
  • Increases your Critical Chance with Melee weapons. Max of 2.2% when maxed for your level.
  • Causes you to do between .5% damage (zero weapon skill) and 100% (match skill requirement) damage with any Melee weapon.

The Melee skill determines skill in close-combat, usually with blades or staff weapons. The base melee skill equals 75% strength and 25% coordination. The maximum is double the base value.

Melee weaponry will work the same as in most FPS games - get up close and stab / whack as many times as quick as you can. In addition there will be special attacks that can be keyed in and delivered on your next blow. These special attacks will increase the amount of damage dealt, introduce status effects like knockdown or debuff opponents. Hitting different areas of the body will also produce different results.

Melee defense is a subskill of melee, which is equal to a character’s melee but may be modified separately by effects, items, etc. When a character is attacked, the character’s melee defense is compared to the attacker’s melee to determine the chance of critical hit, any damage bonus, etc.
